Vinicunca Mountain, better known as Rainbow Mountain or simply (Rainbow), is one of the most popular attractions nowadays. It is visited by thousands of tourists every day, making it the second most visited destination after Machu Picchu.

Located in the south from the city of Cusco, at an altitude summit of 5,038 meters above sea level (m.a.s.l.), it features a unique mountain formation with natural coloring in various shades, resulting from a complex combination of minerals.

The mountain and the summit of Vinicunca are dyed in multiple colors, including red, purple, green, yellow, pink, and other variations.

Itinerary

Day 1 - Rainbow Mountain tour

In this program, we will visit one of the new natural attractions in Cusco, the "Rainbow Mountain." The tour starts early in the morning, and we will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco between 4:00 am and 4:30 am. We will travel by car for approximately two hours to the south, reaching the district of Cusipata - Paucarpata (3,310 meters above sea level), where we can enjoy a buffet breakfast.

Then, we will continue by car for one more hour until we reach  start of  the hike (Pulappatawasi). The hike will last approximately 1:30 to 2 hours. During which we will observe the typical flora and fauna of the Andes, including the presence of llamas and alpacas. We will pass through beautiful ravines and see snow-capped peaks.

When we reach the viewpoint of Vinicunca or Rainbow Mountain (5,038 meters above sea level), our guide will provide an explanation about the geography, ecosystem, and color of the mountain. We will also have the opportunity to observe the Vinicunca mountain range (5,038 meters/16,466 feet), take memorable photos, and admire the beautiful landscape. Then, we will return along the same path to the starting point of the hike (Pulapatawas), where our transportation will be waiting to take us back to Cusipata, where we will enjoy a buffet lunch.

After lunch, we will begin the return journey to the city of Cusco, arriving between 4:00 pm and 4:30 in the afternoon.
