Our transfer will pick you up from your hotel between 08:00 and 08:30 am approximately to take you to the starting point of the tour. Together with our guide and group, we will travel 40 minutes southwest of the city of Cusco, following the CEQUES (referential points).
Our tour begins with a visit to Tipón, which is part of the Qhapaq Ñan route and is located 25 km from the city of Cusco. The archaeological site of Tipón, also known as the "Temple of Water," is a complex of agricultural terraces, long stairs, and stone-carved water channels. It showcases unique hydraulic engineering that astonishes both locals and foreigners, attracting the best scientists from around the world each year. Its thirteen terraces are surrounded by perfectly polished stone walls. Its main attractions are the royal enclosures. Tipón was a great sanctuary where water was worshipped with the care and reverence that the Incas had for this element. The smaller enclosures and the wall were built to protect against invasions from hostile villages.
Next, we will visit the Archaeological Site of Pikillacta, which is located 30 km southwest of the city of Cusco. Pikillacta is known today as one of the most famous and well-preserved pre-Inca cities in Peru and the city of the Wari people. It covers an area of approximately 50 hectares. The word "PIKILLACTA" comes from two Quechua words: PIKI (flea or small) and LLACTA (town), and its translation could be "Town of Fleas" or "Small Town." In Pikillacta, along with our guide, you will appreciate the pre-Inca stone walls and one of the most important cities of the Wari culture. It is famous for its high walls and immense well-planned and organized streets.
As the last stop, we will visit the traditional town of Andahuaylillas, located 36 kilometers from the city of Cusco. Andahuaylillas is part of the Andean Baroque route, and we will also explore its incredible chapel, the Church of San Pedro Apóstol de Andahuaylillas, better known as the Sistine Chapel of America. It is renowned for its beautiful woodwork, exquisite paintings, and colonial decorations that adorn the walls from floor to ceiling, showcasing the artistry of the people of Cusco and the craftsmen. One of the curiosities of this temple is that its baptistery has an arch with the inscription "I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, Amen" written in LATIN, SPANISH, QUECHUA, AIMARA, and PUQUINA.
Finally, we will return to the city of Cusco, where our tour ends at approximately 1:00 pm, concluding this tour to the Southern Valley of Cusco.
