This tour is part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where we will visit the other archaeological parks of the valley, where the Incas made their constructions for religious, astronomical and agricultural experimentation purposes, also you´ll appreciate the nice land scapes glaciers along the Vilcanota mountain range.
Our transfer will pick you up at your hotel between 08:00 am and 8:30 am approximately. We will start by visiting Moray, which is located 38 km from the city of Cusco. Moray is considered an Inca agricultural laboratory consisting of four circular terraces or "muyus" arranged in concentric circles. The deepest terrace has a depression of 80 meters, with the lowest terrace having a diameter of 36 meters. Within the terraces, there are temperature variations ranging from 0.5 to 1.5 °C, creating up to 20 different microclimates.
Next, we will visit the Maras Salt Mines. As the name suggests, these are salt mines consisting of around 5000 small pools, each producing approximately 50 to 80 kilograms of salt per season. The pools are fed by an underground saltwater spring. This natural process takes nearly two months for each harvesting season, and the locals still work by hand same way as in Incas times. Maras salt is highly sought after, with the pink mineral salt being of the highest quality. We will return to Cusco, where our tour will end at approximately 2:00 pm, concluding our visit to the Maras salt mines.
